Job Title: State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh: Small Business Development Center Business Advisor

Job Description: The North Country Small Business Development Center (SBDC) seeks a self-motivated full-time Business Advisor to provide technical assistance to existing and prospective small business owners in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Warren and Washington Counties.

Responsibilities include: The SBDC Business Advisor provides a comprehensive range of small business-based assistance including one-to-one client counseling in the area of business plan development; analyzes, prepares and structures financial statements, such as feasibility studies, cash flow projections, income statements and balance sheets; provides assistance in loan packaging, automated and manual recordkeeping systems and assists clients with market related issues such as advertising, promotional strategies, and other related areas. The SBDC Business Advisor implements and/or participates in training sessions sponsored by the SBDC and provides follow-up services as necessary to attendees.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience as a small business owner or as a manager with direct profit/loss responsibility for a business unit OR Bachelor’s degree in a business, management, finance or related field and at least two years of the experience described above; demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced, multi-directional, client-oriented environment; and demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to off-site work locations are also required.

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of basic business management best practices; and possess demonstrated leadership ability, including successful mentorship.

Salary: $37,872 per year minimum, plus excellent benefits.
