Max Mauer
NEVER ALONE
MID-HUDSON SBDC
While
fighting his own battle with addiction, Max Mauer decided do
something to help adolescents struggling with alcohol and substance
abuse. He decided to open a drug and alcohol rehabilitation
center and offer a short-term program of treatment for teens with
drug and alcohol dependencies. Since opening its doors, Never
Alone, Inc. has assisted more than 1,500 adolescents with dependency
problems.
In 1994,
after applying for permits and licenses, Max and his wife Patti
contacted the SBDC for assistance preparing a business plan and
securing financing for startup. A few years later in 1997
the doors of Never Alone finally opened. In 2000, the client returned
to the SBDC to refinance an existing note and secure working capital
to expand the rehab center. The need for services continues to
be substantial and the treatment center is working to capacity.
Max is currently working with the SBDC to expand his building to
add additional beds and a new dining room. |
