Since our start in 1984, the expert advisors of the Buffalo SBDC have worked directly with 18,024 businesses, helping them to invest $180,554,887 in the area's economy, who have created or saved 10,310 jobs.

The Buffalo State College Small Business Development Center specializes in providing direct one-to-one counseling, at no charge, to small businesses and offers training and instructional programs targeted to the needs and interests of small business owners. In addition, special programs exist for children (KidBiz, designed to give kids the experience of running their own businesses) and Veterans (through the Veterans Outreach Assistance Program). The center is staffed by professionals with the knowledge and experience to provide expert counseling and training to address the countless problems that can occur in the start-up and operations of a small business.

If you or your business reside in New York, the SBDC can maneuver you around the obstacles to success.  Among other things, we help our clients:

  • understand the importance of a business plan
  • discover sources of funding
  • prepare for e-commerce
  • identify avenues for exporting goods & services
  • develop marketing plans
  • assess an invention’s viability
  • comply with licensing & regulations

And thanks to our partners in the public and private sectors, our services are free of charge.
