Entrepreneur assistance comes to thINCubator

The Mohawk Valley SBDC announced its move to Mohawk Valley Community College’s thINCubator on Broad Street in downtown Utica. “Bringing MVCC’s thINCubator and the SBDC under one roof will centralize entrepreneurship services and provide a one-stop shop of entrepreneurial assistance for our region’s entrepreneurs, students and business owners looking to create opportunities for economic growth and creativity,” said Vice President of Community Development and Executive Director of the MVCC Foundation Frank DuRoss.

Heidelberg earns Entrepreneur of the Year award

Heidelberg Bread, client of the Mohawk Valley SBDC at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, was named NYS SBDC Manufacturer of the Year. The company makes bread and baked goods whose ingredients are free of preservatives and sourced from local farms. Owner Boyd Bissell consulted the SBDC for assistance with financing to build a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The building expansion project of $5.7 million enables the firm to dramatically increase capacity and expand their market.

America's SBDC Network Clients Are Job Creators

"The 63 state and regional Small Business Development Center Networks provide free one-on-one consulting to small businesses through nearly 1,000 locations. In 2015 SBDC clients reported a 17.6% in job growth versus the national average of 1.8%. According to data provided by the SBA, every federal dollar spent on the SBDC network helped small businesses access $43.26 in new capital. The SBDC program is a public-private partnership in cooperation with the U.S. Small Business Administration."
